Academics

We have created a new and improved summer session that offers 3-4 week courses, more online courses and more “hard to get” classes. We know that students need to work, complete internships, and just take a break over the summer. This schedule has been designed to make all of those possible while completing a summer course.

A few reasons to Plan on Summer at ISU:

  • Truth-in-Tuition Policy
Since fall 2004, Illinois State University has frozen new student undergraduate tuition at the same semester rate for up to four years of continuous enrollment (more for majors requiring additional coursework). After that time, a student’s tuition will be subject to change. For more information, visit www.comptroller.ilstu.edu/studentaccounts/tuition-rates/ then, check out the summer course offerings; summer is a way to stay on track (or get back on track) to graduate on time.
  • 75 Hour Policy
Illinois State wants to help students make progress towards graduation. Admission to a major is a crucial step. After completion of 75 credit hours, students must have declared a major or, at least, have made application for admission into a major. Picking up a summer class may help students progress toward acceptance into a major or meeting continuation requirements once in a major. For more information, visit www.findyourmajor.ilstu. edu/75/
